“Voted Yea on Michigan SB 237, extending the use tax exemption on data center equipment to 2050 and creating an "enterprise data center" exemption”
The Michigan House passed SB 237, the use tax exemption for enterprise data center equipment, on third reading. Before passage the House adopted an amendment offered by Rep. Harris barring exempt facilities from taking electric service under a rate that causes residential customers to subsidize the cost of serving the facility. Rep. Hood reserved and filed a written protest against passage, saying requested ratepayer protections had not been addressed. A Yea was a vote to extend and expand the tax break; a Nay was a vote against it. The House Journal does not print party for this roll call, so no party is recorded for these members. Outcome: Passed - Yeas 56, Nays 41 (bill history also records Excused 0, Not Voting 13) Recorded vote: Yea. Body: Michigan House of Representatives. Measure: MI SB 237 (2023-2024).
