“Voted Yea on Texas SB 6, requiring large electric loads such as data centers to pay interconnection costs and curtail during grid emergencies”
The Texas House gave third-reading passage to SB 6, the large-load/ERCOT bill aimed at data centers and other giant new electricity customers. As enacted, SB 6 requires the PUC to ensure large load customers contribute to the interconnecting utility's interconnection costs, and lets ERCOT direct large loads to curtail consumption or deploy on-site backup generation during grid emergencies. A yes vote is a vote to make very large electricity users carry more of the cost and reliability burden they create. The House Journal does not print party for this roll call, so no party is recorded for these members. Outcome: Passed the House, 103 Yeas to 25 Nays (2 present, not voting); the Senate concurred 31-0 on May 29 and the governor signed it June 20, 2025 Recorded vote: Yea. Body: Texas House of Representatives. Measure: TX SB 6 (89R, 2025).
