“Voted Aye on the motion to deny Related Digital's conditional rezoning for a data center on roughly 250 acres of Saline Township farmland”

Before 59 residents, the Saline Township Board voted 4-1 to deny Related Digital's conditional rezoning for what became a multibillion-dollar data center on at least 250 acres of farmland. The written denial, attached to the minutes, found the rezoning inconsistent with the township master plan, on prime farmland, beyond the fire department's emergency response capability, and incompatible with neighboring Bridgewater Township's plan. Clerk Kelly Marion cast the lone vote against denial. The developer sued and a consent judgment later allowed the project to proceed. Outcome: Denial approved, Ayes 4 Nays 1 Recorded vote: Aye.
