“Voted Nay on the resolution asking Boulder City voters whether to allow data centers in the Eldorado Valley”
Boulder City's charter bars the council from allowing new land uses in the Eldorado Valley Transfer Area without voter approval, so the only route to permitting data centers there is a ballot question. Every resident who spoke in public comment opposed data centers, citing water use, power demand and noise. The council voted 3-1 to send the question to the November 2026 ballot: Mayor Hardy and Council Members Ashurst and Walton in favor, Council Member Booth opposed after hearing constituent concerns that a data center would drive up residents' electric rates. Council Member Jorgensen was absent. This was a referral vote, not a project approval. Outcome: Passed 3-1 (1 absent) Recorded vote: Nay. Body: Boulder City City Council. Measure: Resolution No. 8099.
