“Did not vote (Present and not voting) on Tennessee HB 1847, requiring data centers to pay the full cost of the electrical infrastructure built to serve them”
The Tennessee Senate substituted and passed HB 1847 (for its companion SB 2128), which requires a data center owner or operator to pay the full cost of infrastructure needed to serve the facility, requires electric utilities to set rates so those costs are borne solely by the data center, and bars utilities from raising residential, commercial or industrial rates because of data center demand. The Tennessee General Assembly's vote page does not print party, so no party is recorded for these members. Outcome: Passed the Senate 28-0 with two senators present and not voting on April 22, 2026, completing legislative passage. Signed by the Governor on May 18, 2026; Public Chapter 961. Recorded vote: Present and not voting. Body: Tennessee Senate. Measure: TN-2026-HB1847.
